Do we get our images?

Yes! You will get a high speed USB stick, of your edited photos. You also get an online gallery that you can share with family and friends. You get a special password so you can download the images in full high resolution to print as you see fit. The web images are guaranteed to stay up on the web for 12 months, but may be even longer.

How much do you cover for a small wedding?

I tend to get there half an hour before the wedding, so I can get some informal shots of guests and little bits and pieces of the ceremony setup.
Then I cover the ceremony, formal shots of the signing and then the congratulations of family and friends. I then take formal shots of family and friends (including the whole group). At last but not least are those special images of you, the bride and groom both formal and relaxed (depends on your preferences). If you’re after more (or less) coverage, just let me know and I can work out a custom price for you.

Do you do interstate and international weddings?

Yes, but it depends on my schedule. I love to get away to explore new locations. I may even get time to shoot your wedding, oh wait! excuse me, that’s why I am there. Seriously, it’s exciting shooting at a new location, new scenery, a different vibe …… It gets the creative juices flowing in abundance. Let me know the details and I’ll be happy to discuss.

Do you have a studio we can come and see?

No. I work from home. I will come and see you, and show examples of my work if you want. Examples of my work is on display on this website. More importantly, you will want to know if I am your type of photographer. In short, Yes, I am.

What kind of camera equipment do you use?

I use professional cameras and lenses. They are not consumer or amateur level.
My camera and lenses are weatherproof and are solid in construction. I use 2 cameras, that I carry all the time. In my equipment bag I carry 2 Pro Cameras, 2 Flashes, 2 Pro Zooms, Macro Lens, Standard 40mm Lens f1.2 (very fast lens), Medium Telephoto 150mm f1.8 (very fast lens), tripod, filters, light modifiers and various other little pieces of equipment eg: enough to get the photos I want in all conditions.

How long before we get to see our photos?

I aim to supply your photos within four to six weeks of the wedding. The honest truth there are periods high demand, when this may not be possible, but I will keep you informed. I will always get a few priceless images up on the web gallery within two weeks.

Serviced Apartments

If you’re planning to get ready at a nearby hotel, also check out serviced appartments. They are much larger, and therefore won’t be over crowded.

During preparations everyone gets more rushed towards the end, no matter how prepared they were earlier on. More space = Less panic.

Slow Down

Calm Down and Relax.
You have done all the preparations. Some things will not go as intended. Don’t let that spoil you day, just go with the flow. You have “delegated” tasks to someone else, let them take charge of their role.
The day will go very fast, so take your time and enjoy what’s happening.

You Can’t Stop the Rain

It doesn’t matter if you have an outdoor or indoor wedding, you need to prepare for rain.
You can’t control it, therefore don’t stress about it.
Always have a back up plan, and delegate someone to bring along some big umbrellas. I’ll have at least two – one for you and one for me.
I have shot a wedding on a clear and bright summer’s day only to have the rain come through a summer storm. It was an outdoor wedding, so we all had to flee to shelter. Some of my favourite photos were taken at that wedding.
In short, surprises produce surprising photos.

Organise the Guests and Family

I have been busy taking your shots, as family and friends congratulate your union. At this point everyone is in high spirits, and eager to get on with the celebrations. But wait, I need to get that group shot of all the guests and smaller groups of family and friends.

So before they move on, I need someone (or two people) who can help identify and organise family and friends.

The organiser has these two jobs.

Job 1

I always take a group shot , as everyone loves it.

I usually get the wedding celebrant to announce that there will be a group shot shortly after the ceremony and ask people stay in the area (but sometimes they may forget).

The delegated person will keep an eye out for people that leave the area and usher them into the right direction, in a flattering way; “Jack and Jill would be really disappointed if you’re not in the photo”.

Job 2

Unfortunately, I don’t know your family or friends. So, I’ll have a list prepared by you. (Please consult the folks to check it over.)

On the wedding day, I will follow that list to take family photos straight after the group shot. You may want to add some friends in that list as well. I’ll give you a help list, to make it easier with your preparations.

The delegated person will help get the right people ready for each group photo. You may wish to get a second person to help with your friends.

Then we can all relax that no-one has been missed, and I can get those extra special shots of you and the wedding party.

Bring a Sewing Kit

I can’t sew. But someone at your wedding can. Maybe Aunt Mabel!
Why is this important? I’ve seen the need many times.
That loose thread that somehow catches on something, the button on the suit the nearly falls off (or does) or the strap on the dress is loose.
Stress not, you are well prepared for such an eventuality, as you have taken notice of my tips. Well done!

Delegate. Delegate. Delegate.

You’ve planned the whole day. On the day, it’s time to enjoy it and pass on the tasks to someone else. Let them take charge and you to enjoy the day. I promise it will go, ridiculously fast.

I’m the Pro

I think its manners for the guests to know that you’ve paid me good money to take great shots. So I need to have priority in taking the shots.
But your Uncle Henry and Aunt Yvette can still take their shots from a different angle, or after I have finished.
If you hire a videographer, we are both professionals and will work with each other to get you the best results. We know what each other needs and the timing of the ceremony.

Take Food & Drink

Get the Best Man or one of the groomsmen to take some food and drink on the photo shoot of the wedding party and you the couple.
You’ll be glad they did. After all that is why they are there for you, to help make your day special. I like to keep things relaxed, and having some sustenance will allow you to enjoy yourselves.

For the Guys

Suits

Guys.. if you are hiring suits, make sure you try them on after you have picked them up.

You could have the wrong suits!

Mistakes happen!

Certain guys may have widened in the girth (not the groom, but those other guys).

Reduce your stress on the day and try well in advance of the ceremony.

Guys, You Have the Suit. What About the Tie!

Guys do you know how to tie a TIE! Maybe you have got out of practice!

Psst! Check out how to do the Windsor knot here to learn or remind yourself.

Or check out my instructions.

Everyone will be impressed, especially your lady.

Guys – Shoes!

Nice clean shoes. Enough said.

Make sure that all groomsmen have matching shoe colour and style (no gumboots unless you all wear gumboots – if that’s your thing).
