Frequently asked

How do we get our images?

Your professionally edited images will be available through on online gallery that you can share with family and friends.

You get a special password so you can download the images in full high resolution to print as you see fit. The gallery is guaranteed to stay on the web for 12 months, but may be even longer.

If you prefer your images can be delivered on a USB stick.

How long will the photo session take?

The full session will generally last an hour ( or 2hrs for a longer session). Mini sessions last 20 – 30 minutes.

What should we wear?

This is the most asked question, we get asked and every other photographer on the planet. We give a free guide to all our customers when booking a session. The style of the photo session really determines what you should wear.

As a guide, choose colours that compliment each other. Pick similar tones and colours. Layout your outfits and see if they look nice together. Have a little bit of the same colour in each outfit.

For lifestyle photographs of families, we are capturing real moments. Activities like painting, baking, playing in the sprinkler tend to be messy affairs. So please be mindful of what you don’t mind getting spoilt. They can be the best shots.

Where are you based?

I am based in Collinswood, Adelaide. Natural light photography is my specialty, which is sometimes enhanced by the use of artificial lighting. I prefer to use beautiful outdoor locations within Adelaide or at a customers home/property.

Over the years I have found many locations around Adelaide, that suits this type of photo session. The main thing is that you (and/or your family) are comfortable with the setting. I find my customers feel more comfortable in quiet places, and photos are not spoiled by other individuals entering the shot.

Get in touch to discuss the look or style you are after. Appropriate places will be suggested or you may have a great location in mind.

Can you travel for my shoot?

Yes. I generally shoot in the Adelaide region but I can go further afield. There may be a travel fee for the extra time it takes, to get to the location.

How do we book?

This can be done through this site. Just use the booking page or contact us directly by email, text or phone.

Mini Sessions are completely payed upon booking. All other sessions require a $150 deposit to book your session. These payments are non refundable, but transferrable to another date if given at least 48 hrs notice.

The balance is payable before the photo session. I accept Credit Card Payments (through PayPal), cash or direct deposit.

Note: Albums and Prints if they are not part of a package are paid in a seperate invoice, at a time after the photo session.

My spouse hates having photos taken…

I totally get that. I hate getting my photo taken as well. That’s why I’m behind the camera taking the shots, LOL.

I’m used to getting people to enjoy the photo session. It won’t be painful, just the opposite. We all will be just having some fun, and getting some photos taken.

I’m worried about getting photos because my children are very shy…

My style of photography is a combination of activity based and posed shots. I always do the activity shots first as I am really in the background taking photos as your family enjoying the outing. It may be throwing a ball in the park or climbing on park play equipment etc.

Then when I take some posed shots everyone is smiling and happy and most importantly interacting with each other, which makes for great family photos. I’m always taking photos of my family, so I very experienced in putting people and children at ease.

Do we need planned activities for children?

The location tends to plan the activity itself. Do what you always do as a family and the everyone will have a good time and great photos will be the outcome.

I will just hang out with you, while you have fun with your family. Photos will be adorable with natural reactions to real activities. After having some fun I will also do posed shots, which will be natural looking photos of you all enjoying the moment.

Mini sessions do not have the same flexibility and will all be posed shots, as time does not permit for a play session. They will be fun and natural photos with people interacting with each other.

Can we bring our pet?

A big YES! I have always had a pet in my life and I know how they form an integral part of the family. They may even make you more relaxed in front of the camera.

Just let me know in advance so that we can plan a suitable location together.

Snake as a pet? Mmmmm, you will need to make me feel comfortable.

What kind of camera equipment do you use?

I use professional cameras and lenses. They are not consumer or amateur level.

My camera and lenses are weatherproof and are solid in construction. I use 2 cameras, that I carry all the time. In my equipment bag I carry 2 Pro Cameras, 3 Flashes, 2 Pro Zooms, Macro Lens, Standard 40mm Lens f1.2 (very fast lens), Medium Telephoto 150mm f1.8 (very fast lens), tripod.

If shooting indoors I also carry light stands, diffusers, backdrop support rig and two to three backdrops.

Can we purchase prints and albums?

I actually suggest this to families. Having your photos displayed around your home will bring you joy every day. Of course you can print these yourself, or order straight from my website. Many clients simply don’t have the time to spare to arrange prints or albums themselves, so they leave it in my hands.

There are many options for prints and albums. It depends on requirements and the price. These can be discussed after your photo session. There is no pressure on you to make choices before or after a photo session and seeing you have all the original photos you can opt for printing them yourself. It’s completely your choice.

How long before we get to see our photos?

I aim to within two to three weeks of your session. The honest truth there are periods high demand, when this may not be possible, but I will keep you informed. I will always get a few priceless images up on the web gallery in the time frame.
